2- Materials and methods 1. Snails B. alexandrina snails (8 - 10 mm) from Medical Malacology Laboratory, Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI), Giza, Egypt were used. Pieces of polyethylene sheets were put into the aquaria to collect egg masses. 2. Synthetic insecticide: Match 5% EC: Lufenuron 5% EC (Registration No., 609) was purchased from Syngenta (AGRO-Egypt). 3. Bioassay tests: 3.1. Molluscicidal screening: A stock solution of 1000 ppm was prepared from the insecticide on the basis of W/V using dechlorinated tap water. To calculate LC50 and LC90, Series of concentrations were prepared and ten B. alexandrina snails were placed in beakers for each concentration (WHO, 1983) and another group in dechlorinated water as control. Three replicates were prepared for each group and control, then, snailsââ¬â¢ mortality was recorded. 3.1.1.
